Is e-invoicing mandatory in Greece?
Yes, and it is expanding fast. E-invoicing to the Greek public sector has been mandatory since 1 September 2025. Domestic B2B e-invoicing is now phasing in: large businesses since March 2026, and all remaining businesses from 1 October 2026, cleared through the myDATA platform.
Greece runs its e-invoicing on myDATA, the digital platform of the Greek tax authority (AADE). Invoice data is reported to myDATA, which validates it and returns a unique registration number (MARK) that makes the invoice legally valid.
Invoicing the Greek public sector electronically has been mandatory since 1 September 2025 for public contracts, using EN 16931 compliant invoices delivered over Peppol. For B2B, a mandate is phasing in during 2026: businesses with 2023 turnover above 1 million euro must issue and receive structured e-invoices from March 2026, and all other businesses follow from 1 October 2026.
Peppol is the transmission layer, structured e-invoices are exchanged through accredited Peppol Access Points and cleared by myDATA. Adopting Peppol e-invoicing now means you are ready for the public-sector rules today and for the B2B mandate as it reaches your business.
Greek e-invoices are structured XML, cleared through myDATA and exchanged over Peppol. Invoicier generates and validates them for you.
On the Peppol network, Greek organisations are addressed by a participant identifier built from their tax registration number.
