What is a Peppol ID
A Peppol ID (also called a Peppol Participant Identifier) is a structured identifier that uniquely addresses your business on the Peppol network. It follows the format scheme:identifier — for example, a VAT-based ID might look like 0106:BE0123456789.
When someone wants to send you a Peppol invoice, they look up your Peppol ID in the Peppol SMP (Service Metadata Publisher). This tells their system which access point to route the document through — ensuring it reaches you reliably and securely.
Your Peppol ID is built from a scheme (e.g., VAT number scheme) and your company identifier — unique in the network.
Once registered, any Peppol participant in 50+ countries can look up your ID and send you invoices directly.
You need a Peppol ID to both send and receive invoices over the Peppol network. Invoicier handles it for you.
