Your unique address on the Peppol network

A Peppol ID (also called a Peppol Participant Identifier) is a structured identifier that uniquely addresses your business on the Peppol network. It follows the format scheme:identifier — for example, a VAT-based ID might look like 0106:BE0123456789.

When someone wants to send you a Peppol invoice, they look up your Peppol ID in the Peppol SMP (Service Metadata Publisher). This tells their system which access point to route the document through — ensuring it reaches you reliably and securely.

Scheme + identifier

Your Peppol ID is built from a scheme (e.g., VAT number scheme) and your company identifier — unique in the network.

Discoverable globally

Once registered, any Peppol participant in 50+ countries can look up your ID and send you invoices directly.

Peppol ID FAQ

Yes, to send invoices via the Peppol network you need a registered Peppol ID. Without one, your business isn't addressable on the network. Invoicier registers your Peppol ID automatically when you set up a workspace.
A Peppol ID consists of a scheme code and an identifier, separated by a colon. For example: 0106:BE0123456789 (Belgium VAT-based). The scheme varies by country — common ones include GLN, VAT number, and company registration number.
With Invoicier, registration is instant. As soon as you complete your workspace setup, your Peppol ID is registered with the network and active. There's no approval queue or waiting period.
A Peppol ID can only be registered with one access point at a time. If you already have a Peppol ID registered elsewhere, you'd need to migrate it to Invoicier. Contact us at hello@invoicier.com and we'll guide you through the process.
